£1.5bn insurance bill for Gloucestershire's floods

New figures have revealed that the total insurance bill for
Gloucestershire's floods is estimated to be £1.5 billion.

It was the UK's wettest July on record, with the heavy rain costing Gloucestershire dearly. The latest figure of £1.5bn puts into perspective the scale and the impact the floods have had on businesses and homeowners in the region.

The Association of British Insurers or ABI says a government promise to increase flood spending by £230 million by 2010 isn't good enough. They say investment is needed now and not in two years time as the flood risk is expected to get worse in many areas.
